Xoraal watches the young dragon leap off his arm and take first flight, the gauntlet on his arm no longer weighed down by its heavy black talons.

He has done this so many times, but it always makes him smile when they soar for the first time, their wings unfurling on the freezing winds like sun-drenched flags. Xoraal looks at Shoxia, who watches in awe as the dragon flies from her father. She looks every bit his daughter, an even younger drake sitting on her shoulder.

The drake twitches its growing wings, as if in imitation of its elder in the sky.
